EvoCoast sourced and compiled relevant studies, reports and datasets; and provided detailed advice on the components of the estuarine system requiring further investigation. |
Emu Point to Middleton Beach Coastal Vulnerability Assessment, Albany City of Albany MAR 2017 – OCT 2017 EvoCoast was commissioned by the City of Albany to undertake a coastal vulnerability assessment of the coastal assets between Emu Point to Middleton Beach. The work will form part of the City’s future Coastal Hazard Risk Management & Adaptation Planning for the area. EvoCoast was also commissioned to identify a range of adaptation options and a short term monitoring and management plan. |
Shark Barrier Feasibility Assessment, Busselton Busselton Jetty Inc. SEP 2017 – DEC 2017 EvoCoast and O2 Marine were commissioned by the Busselton Jetty Inc. to investigate the feasibility of installing a shark barrier enclosure at the end of the Busselton Jetty to create a shark-free area for scuba diving, snorkelling and other recreational activities. EvoCoast undertook targeted consultation with key stakeholders, reviewed existing barriers within WA, consulted with suppliers and determined likely capital and maintenance costs. |
Canning Foreshore Stabilisation, Swan River Rowing WA SEP 2017 – DEC 2017 EvoCoast was commissioned by Rowing WA to provide advice on the protection options for their facility building located on the banks of the Canning River. EvoCoast developed a cost-effective concept design, taking into consideration the requirement to maintain boat launching and the need for low ongoing maintenance. |
Middleton Beach Artificial Surf Reef Coastal Impacts, Albany City of Albany OCT 2017 – NOV 2017 EvoCoast was commissioned by the City of Albany to provide advice on the coast investigations required for the construction of an artificial surfing reef at Middleton Beach. EvoCoast provided guidance on the potential impacts on coastal processes and the level of investigations required to support approvals. |
Jetty Siltation Investigation, Jurien Bay Shire of Dandaragan SEP 2017 – OCT 2017 EvoCoast was commissioned by the Shire of Dandaragan to investigate the ongoing siltation of the popular Jurien Bay jetty. EvoCoast undertook a detailed review of monitoring records to investigate the coastal processes, identify the likely cause of siltation, predict further patterns and present a range management options. |
Coastal Hazard Assessment Scoping Study, Mandurah City of Mandurah APR 2017 – AUG 2017 EvoCoast was commissioned by the City of Mandurah to identify and define the requirements for a coastal hazard study to form part of the City’s future Coastal Hazard Risk & Adaptation Plan (CHRMAP). EvoCoast consulted with the Department of Planning and Department of Transport to determine and define the level of detail required. Relevant geotechnical information was sourced and advice provided on the benefit of undertaking any further investigations. |
Point Peron Spur Groyne & Limestone Breakwater Condition Inspection City of Rockingham May 2017 – July 2017 EvoCoast was commission by the City of Rockingham to undertake a detailed condition inspection of the Point Peron spur groyne and associated breakwaters. The structures act as a sand trap and provide shelter to the Point Peron boat launching facility. A recommended maintenance strategy was prepared including concept options for the repair or modification/upgrade of the spur groyne. |
Coastal Structures Asset Management, Albany City of Albany APR 2017 – JUN 2017 EvoCoast was commissioned by the City of Albany to undertake a condition assessment for each of the City’s coastal protection structures for the purpose of adding the structures into the City’s asset management database. The assessment included condition rating, remaining design life and fair value cost estimates. EvoCoast developed a five-class condition rating scale suitable for the ongoing review of City’s coastal structures. |
Seabird, Ledge Point and Lancelin Coastal Monitoring Action Plan (CMAP) Department of Transport OCT 2016 – APR 2017 EvoCoast (through Seashore Engineering) was commissioned by the Department of Transport to prepare a simple and cost-effective Coastal Monitoring Action Plan (CMAP) for Seabird, Ledge Point and Lancelin. For each site monitoring objectives, triggers and management actions were identified based on consideration of the current unmitigated hazard levels. Monitoring techniques were then selected to achieve these objectives in a cost-effective manner by maximising collection methods by the Shire and community groups. |
Coastal Hazard Risk Management & Adaptation Planning Guidelines Review, Western Australia Department of Planning MAR 2017 EvoCoast was invited by the Department of Planning to assist in the review of the Western Australian Planning Commission’s 2014 Coastal Hazard Risk Management and Adaptation Planning Guidelines to ensure the guidelines are current with latest practices. EvoCoast provided expert review and advice, highlighting opportunities for improvement and optimisation to the risk management process. |
Coastal Hazard Risk Management & Adaptation Planning Gap Analysis, Mandurah City of Mandurah DEC 2016 – MAR 2017 EvoCoast was commissioned by the City of Mandurah to review all previous coastal adaptation and management studies to provide a recommended strategy for the successful completion of a Coastal Hazard Risk Management Adaptation Plan (CHRMAP) compliant with the requirements of the Western Australian Planning Commission State Coastal Planning Policy (SPP 2.6). |
Pelican Point Canals Maintenance Dredging Review, Bunbury City of Bunbury DEC 2016 – FEB 2017 EvoCoast (through Seashore Engineering) was commissioned by the City of Bunbury to review the maintenance dredging requirements for the Pelican Point canal estate located in Eaton to the north of Bunbury. EvoCoast provided specialist dredging technical advice in the review of dredging requirements, dredging/disposal techniques and environmental constraints, to provide an effective future maintenance dredging strategy. |
Dredging & Sand Bypassing Strategic Assessment, Mandurah City of Mandurah DEC 2016 – JAN 2017 EvoCoast Pty Ltd was commissioned by the City of Mandurah to provide strategic advice for the on-going management of sand bypassing at the Mandurah Ocean Entrance and maintenance dredging at the entrance to Mandurah Ocean Marina, Mary Street Lagoon and Port Mandurah Canals. EvoCoast developed an efficient 10-year maintenance dredging strategy. |
Condition Inspections & Maintenance Strategy, Mandurah City of Mandurah NOV 2016 – DEC 2016 EvoCoast was commissioned by the City of Mandurah to undertake condition inspections and provide management recommendations for five coastal structures in the vicinity of the Mandurah Ocean Marina. A visual site inspection was undertaken to identify any defects, which were then evaluated according to their effect on the structure’s loss of performance. EvoCoast developed a practical 10-year monitoring and maintenance program. |
Coastal Erosion Hotspots, Western Australia Department of Transport SEP 2016 – NOV 2016 EvoCoast (through Seashore Engineering) was commissioned by the Department of Transport to review coastal erosion along the Western Australian coast to identify areas with coastal assets likely to be at risk from coastal erosion within the then next 25 years. EvoCoast provided technical support, undertook consultation with local governments, and review of all existing Coastal Hazard Risk Management & Adaptation Plans (CHRMAPs). |
Sunset Beach Coastal Hazard Assessment, Geraldton Developments (Sunset Beach) Pty Ltd JUL 2016 – SEP 2016 EvoCoast (through Seashore Engineering) was commissioned to provide specialist coastal engineering advice for the proposed Sunset Beach development site located on the northern Geraldton coast.
